PSP: Mt. Carmel man wielding crossbow shot, killed another
SAXTON, Bedford County – A Mount Carmel man is accused of shooting and killing a 53-year-old Blair County man with a crossbow.
State Police at Bedford charged Alec Paul Rhoads, 24, of Mount Carmel, with first degree murder, third degree murder, criminal homicide, and assault.
Troopers said they were called to a home on Railroad Avenue in Saxton around 10:30am Sunday for a death investigation.
Daren D. Lingenfelter, 53, of Claysburg, was found dead in the home.
Lingenfelter, troopers said, was struck and killed by an arrow fired from a crossbow and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bedford County Coroner Rusty Styer.
Rhoads was taken into custody in James Creek, Huntingdon County, and arraigned on murder charges.
The investigation is ongoing, troopers said.
