PSP investigate barricaded gunman incident in Beaver Township overnight; incident contained

BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Columbia County – State Police at Bloomsburg are investigating an incident that involved a barricaded gunman in Beaver Township, Columbia County overnight.
Just before 1:00am this morning, troopers were called to 635 Beaver Valley Road in the township for a reported incident, which resulted in a barricaded gunman.
Homes in the surrounding area were evacuated, and roads closed as a result, as the State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was activated, and the residence was cleared.
Beaver-Main Elementary School, about two miles down the road, was closed as a precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of students and faculty. No threats were made to the school.
The investigation is ongoing, and troopers say there is no threat to the community, and all roadways are open.
Troopers did not say if anyone was in custody, noting that the incident is contained.
The Press-Enterprise of Bloomsburg is reporting the Columbia County Coroner is at the scene as well.
