PSP Hazleton, U.S. Marshals provide update on Shawn Christy search; Truck found in Hometown

WEST HAZLETON, Luzerne County – “Pennsylvania State Police Troop N wants to send a message out there, and that’s to the citizens of the commonwealth that we serve. Please be vigilant. Keep your vehicles locked, do not leave your keys in the vehicle at any time. Also, keep your houses locked at all times,” said Trooper Anthony Petroski, Troop N. “There is a wanted fugitive in the surrounding area, and he could be anywhere at this point.”
The Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, along with the U.S. Marshals Service held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to provide an update on the search for Shawn Christy, McAdoo, who has been on the run since June for threats made to the president, a district attorney, and law enforcement officials.
Christy had reportedly stolen a U.S. Postal Service Jeep in Kentucky, which was found in West Virginia, and recently stole a 1997 GMC Sierra in Cumberland, Maryland, with a Pennsylvania license plate of ZGL-2845.
That GMC, according to Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark, was located at approximately 7:30am Tuesday in the unit block of Tide Road in Hometown, at a business near the Walmart plaza , though he was reluctant to say exactly where. Members of law enforcement have been searching the woods near that location throughout the day.
“Remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity immediately,” Petroski said, directed towards citizens. “Anything out of the ordinary. Food taken, a vehicle stolen, a license plate removed off a vehicle, report that immediately through 911 operations.”
“We want him taken into custody as soon as possible, and taken off the streets,” added Petroski.
Clark noted that there were no credible sightings of Christy in the area.
“He’s very elusive. It’s been a challenge for us, and a challenge for all of the federal agents involved, but our resolve and our commitment is going to be greater than his desperateness, so we’re going to stay on this,” added Clark.
When asked what he would say to Christy, Clark said “turn yourself in. Get to the nearest police station, turn yourself in.”
Petroski added that Christy is considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
“Get a good description, a location, and call 911 immediately,” Petroski said.
Clark emphasized that a $20,000 reward exists for information that leads to Christy’s arrest.
