PSP corporal facing DUI, child endangerment charges in Luzerne

HAZLETON, Luzerne County – A State Police Corporal from the Hazleton barracks was arrested yesterday, troopers said in a media release.
Corporal Eric T. Porpiglia, 34, of Drums, was arrested on April 30 on DUI-related charges. According to court documents, he is facing a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children, a pair of misdemeanor DUI charges, a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of children, and additional summary traffic violations.
Porpiglia has been with the state police since November 2007 and was assigned to Troop N Hazleton. He is suspended without pay pending resolution of the criminal case and an internal investigation.
Porpiglia was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Dixon, and bail was set at $25,000. A preliminary hearing is set for May 21.
