PSP: Bradford Co. man, drunk, rolled UTV on east end street
SHENANDOAH – A Bradford County man is facing fleeing and DUI charges after state troopers say he took off on a UTV and rolled it on the east end of town over the weekend.
Samuel Rodriguez-Ramos, 51, of 1229 Summit Road, North Towanda Township, was briefly jailed after the chase and crash.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Shane Clark, Rodriguez-Ramos was one of several UTV riders seen operating on East Centre Street in town on Saturday around 6pm.
When Clark activated his lights, they all fled.
One of them, a 2018 Polaris RZR Turbo, operated by Rodriguez-Ramos, turned abruptly and rolled at the intersection of Carbon and Mount Vernon Streets. That’s a block north of the Mrs. T’s main entrance.
Rodriguez-Ramos was removed from the vehicle by Clark and arrested. Clark wrote in the complaint that Rodriguez-Ramos smelled of alcohol and told troopers he had “two beers,” later adding that he drank tequila too.
He had a blood alcohol concentration of .104, Clark wrote of the results of a breath test. Rodriguez-Ramos refused a blood test at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill.
He was arraigned Saturday on a felony charge of fleeing, a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, and a summary charge of careless driving and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post 10% of $10,000 bail.
On Monday, he posted bail and is now free.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 25.
