Paths, a gazebo, and foliage are already in place.

The park is being built by Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services at Pine and Center Streets in the village.

It will memorialize the Sheppton Mine Disaster of 1963 and was approved by the township in April.

Mericle is building the park at no cost to the township.

The Sheppton Mine Disaster occurred in 1963 when a mine cave-in trapped David Fellin, Henry Throne, and Louis Bova. After a two-week rescue effort, Fellin and Throne were saved. Bova was lost in the disaster.
