HUMBOLDT, Luzerne County – Charges were filed against a Pottsville man who state troopers say dropped methamphetamine on the ground during a smoke break at a Humboldt manufacturer.
According to State Police at Hazleton, around 9:30am Monday, they were called to Hershey Foods at 6 Scotch Pine Drive in the Humboldt Industrial Park.
Two people, Scott Moyer and an unidentified individual, were on a smoke break in the designated smoking area of the facility.
The individual asked Moyer for a cigarette lighter. When Moyer went to retrieve the lighter from his pocket, a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance fell onto the ground.
Later, Moyer, 48, of Pottsville, was asked by the plant’s safety manager about the bag. Moyer then admitted the bag contained methamphetamine.
The contents of the bag were tested and “provided a positive reaction for methamphetamine.”
Troopers said charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge James Dixon in West Hazleton.
