Police: Wm. Penn man fought brother, tried to break into house to continue fight
WILLIAM PENN – A William Penn man is facing charges after fighting his brother and trying to break into a house to continue the fight.
Seth Beattie, 30, of William Penn, is facing felony burglary and misdemeanor simple assault charges for the incident.
According to court documents, West Mahanoy Township Police were called to 269 Mount Olive Boulevard around 3:30am Tuesday morning for a report of a fight in the street outside.
Police arrived on scene to find Beattie leaning against a vehicle on the north side of the roadway.
Beattie, police said, was visibly intoxicated. When asked what was going on, Beattie told police, “F—–g nothing.”
He then moved away from the vehicle, balled up his fists, and advanced on Patrolman Theodore Buriak, Jr.
After multiple commands to stop, Buriak deployed his Taser device and stunned Beattie.
Police spoke to the homeowner at 269 Mount Olive Boulevard, who told officers that Beattie had been fighting with his brother and striking him with a stick.
Beattie’s brother fled to 271 Mount Olive Boulevard. The homeowner there, police said, reported that Beattie had been trying to forcefully enter the residence to assault his brother again. That homeowner was struck in the nose while trying to keep Beattie out.
Beattie is facing felony burglary, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary disorderly conduct and public drunkenness charges for the incident.
He was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Rossi and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post cash $50,000 bail.
