Police: Numidia man fired shots at sister’s fleeing fiance
NUMIDIA, Columbia County – A Numidia man is facing attempted homicide charges after police say he fired shots at his sister’s fleeing fiance after an argument Thursday evening.
Locust Township Police said the incident happened around 8:00pm Thursday at 158 Gas Well Road in Numidia.
Cameron Temple and Tesla Achy were engaged in a verbal argument, police said in a media release, when Cameron decided to leave to diffuse the situation. He backed down the driveway, preparing to leave eastbound on Gas Well Road.
Police said that’s when Jeffrey Achy, 21, of 158 Gas Well Road, fired several shots at Temple’s Kia sedan.
Temple was not struck, though three .45 caliber handgun slugs have been recovered from the interior of the car.
Police said the bullets traveled through the trunk of the car, through the back seat, and into the front driver and passenger areas. One bullet, police said, punctured the gas tank.
Jeffrey Achy was taken into custody by police from Locust Township, Montour Township, and Catawissa Borough without incident, while firefighters from the Valley Chemical Fire Co. responded for the gasoline spill.
Jeffrey Achy is facing charges of Criminal Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Discharge of a Firearm Into A Vehicle. He was taken to Columbia County Prison, unable to post $250,000 straight bail.
