Police: North Bower man now accused of trying to break into school

SHENANDOAH – The North Bower Street man accused of trespassing at three east end businesses is now accused of trying to break into the Shenandoah Valley School District complex.

Joseph Andrew Velousky, 36, of 116 North Bower Street, is facing felony criminal intent to commit criminal trespass and misdemeanor criminal trespass and criminal trespass on school grounds.

Borough Police Patrolman Leo Luciani, Jr. filed the charges Jan. 18 in Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker’s Shenandoah courtroom.

In the affidavit of probable cause, Luciani said police were notified by David Lukashunas, facilities supervisor for the Shenandoah Valley School District on Jan. 5 of the incident.

Velousky, police said, was seen entering the campus on several occasions and made attempts to enter the closed and locked school buildings.

In doing so, Velousky triggered the district’s burglar and assistance alarms.

At the time of the incident, janitorial staff were working in the building.

Bail in this case was set at 10% of $10,000, and Velousky remained in Schuylkill County Prison.

Velousky was already behind bars for multiple separate trespass incidents since November on the east end of town.
