NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies.
Theft
SAINT NICHOLAS – State Police are seeking whoever stole copper wire from coal mining equipment in Mahanoy Township.
The theft was discovered Monday, according to State Police at Frackville, at Blaschak Coal.
A large amount of copper wire was swiped from coal equipment at the property, troopers said.
Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.
Theft
TUSCARORA – State troopers are investigating after they say someone swiped a PennDOT road work sign Monday.
The sign was stolen from 40 Catawissa Street in Schuylkill Township around 9am and 11am Monday, State Police at Frackville said.
The sign is an orange sign reading “Road Work Ahead.”

Hit-And-Run
ASHLAND – State Police are seeking a vehicle they say struck a parked car in Ashland and took off.
State Police at Frackville said this happened around 5:30pm May 31 in front of 1609 Centre Street in the borough.
The pickup truck, believed to be a silver Chevy Colorado, was parked in front of a 2005 Mazda.
Troopers said the truck fled the scene without contacting the owner of the Mazda.
Theft
GRIER CITY – A Barnesville area woman is out $5,800 after state troopers say she was scammed.
State Police at Frackville said they were called to a Rush Township home around 3:30pm on May 31.
The victim, a 55-year-old woman, had been texted by someone claiming to be a member of Chime Mobile Banking and asked if she authorized several charges. The scammer advised her to move all of her money out of Chime and into her Apple Wallet and provide the information thereof to the scammer, who then took $5,810.

Hit-and-Run
SHENANDOAH – A Pottsville man is facing charges after state troopers say he sideswiped a car on West Laurel Street in town last month.
State Police at Frackville cited Isaiah Parsons, 26, of Pottsville for the incident.
Troopers accused parsons of sideswiping a 2013 Chevrolet while he was driving a 2016 Dodge Dart in the unit block of West Laurel Street.
He fled the scene south and was found on Route 61 at Wade Road in Saint Clair.
Trespassing
HECKSCHERVILLE – Two Adams County men were cited for trying to sneak a peak at an abandoned piece of mining equipment.
State Police at Frackville said this happened on May 26 around 7:30pm.
Troopers were called to Greenbury Road in New Castle Township for a report of trespassing and found Jeffery Richards and Mark Raymond, both of Biglerville.
They had entered the property to view a Marion 7400 Walking Dragline Steam Engine, troopers said, and were cited for trespassing.
Threats
CRESSONA – A school student was taken into custody accused of lodging a threat at a southern Schuylkill County school.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven said they were called to River Rock Academy in Cressona around 2:30pm on June 6.
There, troopers said a 16-year-old boy made a threat while on school grounds.
He was taken into custody and placed at a detention facility by Schuylkill County Juvenile Probation, troopers said.
Vehicle Crash
PINE GROVE TWP. – A New York man was cited after state troopers say ran a stop sign in a one-lane work zone and struck a car coming the other way.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven said this happened just before 2pm June 3 on Route 501 in Pine Grove Township.
Raymond Gould, 44, of Forestville, New York, was traveling north on Route 501 in a Freightliner when troopers said he didn’t stop for a flagger holding a stop sign as the southbound lane was closed.
A Pine Grove woman was headed south in a 2022 Hyundai Tucson through the work zone.
The two vehicles collided and the woman’s vehicle was disabled.
Gould was cited for the crash.
No injuries were reported.
