NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies in our region.

Assault

SHENANDOAH – A 27-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by a group of men over the weekend.

State Police at Frackville said it happened on West Centre Street.

The man, they said, was attacked by five men.

Vehicle Accident

MOREA – A Mahanoy City woman was injured when she struck a parked car in Morea.

The crash happened Monday around 9am on Lower Street near Colliery Road in Morea.

State Police at Frackville said Janice Lavelle, 69, of Mahanoy City, was headed south on Colliery Road when she missed the left-hand turn onto Lower Street.

She was driving a 2016 Subaru Outback.

The Outback struck a parked 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, pushing the Cobalt into a garage.

She was taken to a Danville hospital for treatment.

Theft

RINGTOWN – A handgun was swiped from a home in Ringtown earlier this month, according to state troopers.

State Police at Frackville were called to a home on Arch Street around 1pm May 8 for the reported theft.

They said a .380 pistol was taken.

Theft

SHENANDOAH – Someone stole an 18-year-old Shenandoah man’s vital documents earlier this month, according to the State Police at Frackville.

Troopers said the theft happened between 6pm May 6 and 4pm May 11 at a home at 510 West Coal Street.

Someone entered that home and swiped a safe, which contained his birth certificate and Social Security card.

Vehicle Accident

MAPLE HILL – No injuries were reported when State Police at Frackville said a Lost Creek woman struck a street sweeper near here.

The crash happened on Route 54 east of Yatesville Road in Mahanoy Township.

Roxanne Hancock, 48, of Lost Creek, was headed east on Route 54 in a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Troopers said she struck a street sweeper, driven by 55-year-old Marty Shappell, of Pottsville, which was cleaning the south shoulder of the highway.

No injuries were reported.
