Police Log, 3/19/2024

NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies in our region.

Theft

BARNESVILLE – State Police are investigating several thefts at the Locust Lake State Park last week.

Troopers said the thefts happened some time between 1pm and 2pm at the park near Barnesville.

Someone swiped items from a 2021 Honda CRV and a 2015 Kia Sportage.

Anyone with information should call State Police at Frackville at 570-874-5300 in reference to incident number PA2024-333528.

Vehicle Theft

FRACKVILLE – State Police at Frackville are investigating the theft of an ATV in this borough earlier this month.

Troopers said that the 2012 Honda, black in color, was swiped sometime March 5 from a home on West Pine Street.

Anyone with information on the theft should call State Police at 570-874-5300.

Scam

ZION GROVE – A Zion Grove man is out $200 after state troopers say he fell victim to a scam.

State Police at Frackville said the were called Friday for a reported scam.

The 31-year-old man provided information to an unknown actor who made fraudulent purchases on his wireless billing account.

Assault

SHENANDOAH – A Shenandoah woman is facing charges, accused of striking a man with a decorative lantern.

Kathleen Herb, 48, of North White Street, was charged by Shenandoah Police with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.

According to court documents, police were called to a home on North White Street around 10:30pm for a reported disturbance.

The victim met police, with his hands and face covered in blood, telling them that Herb struck him in the face with a decorative lantern. The victim said he had been sticking up for Herb’s boyfriend in an argument.

Two witnesses corroborated the victim’s story, while Herb said she had no idea how it happened, saying it may have been from him picking his nose or behind. Herb was intoxicated, officers said.

The victim was taken to a Pottsville hospital.

A preliminary hearing is set for April 4 in Shenandoah.

Assault, Strangulation

SHENANDOAH – A Shenandoah man is out on bail, bailed out by the woman police say he held a knife to the throat of.

Henry Bello Perez, 40, of West New York Street, was charged by Shenandoah Police with felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment.

According to court documents, police were called to a home on West New York Street for a reported assault on March 9.

Patricia Olga Tavarez reported that her husband, Bello Perez, assaulted her.

She was taken to a hospital and interviewed on March 12, where she told police she had a black and blue middle finger and said she was grabbed by the neck, thrown to the floor, and at one point had a knife held to her throat.

Bello Perez was charged, arraigned March 15 and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 cash bail.

On March 18, Tavarez posted bail for Bello Perez.

A preliminary hearing is set for March 28.

Harassment

GRIER CITY – A Mahanoy City man was cited for harassment after a physical altercation here Saturday afternoon.

Troopers said Jeffrey Miller, 49, of Mahanoy City, got into a verbal altercation with a 54-year-old Quakake man.

At one point, Miller, troopers said, struck the other man in the head with a closed fist.

Miller was cited for harassment.

Criminal Mischief

GIRARDVILLE – State troopers are seeking a woman they say illegal entered a home in Girardville, disconnected a security camera, and took off.

They were called around 12:30am Sunday for the incident at 222 West Main Street.

Troopers said a woman illegally entered the home and disconnected a security camera on her way out. She left in a white sedan, possibly a Dodge Dart.

Vehicle Accident

MAHANOY TOWNSHIP – No injuries were reported in a vehicle accident between Mahanoy City and Brandonville Friday morning.

The crash happened around 6:15am on Brandonville Road.

State Police at Frackville said Trevor Lex, 19, of Ringtown, was headed north on Brandonville Road in a 2005 Subaru.

Troopers said he left his lane and struck a tree, disabling the vehicle.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, but escaped injury, and he will be cited for the crash.

Vehicle Accident

DELANO – A Mahanoy City woman was not injured, but was cited, for a crash in Delano Township earlier this month.

State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around noon March 10.

Heidi Dower, 41, of Mahanoy City, was left the roadway on Trenton Street in a 2008 Honda when she struck a ditch.

The vehicle was disabled and she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Dower was not hurt, but was cited for the crash.

Vehicle Accident

DEER LAKE – A Shenandoah woman was not hurt when her vehicle was sideswiped by a Jeep on Route 61 here earlier this month.

The crash happened around 1:30am March 8 on the Centre Turnpike near Locust Road.

Troopers said Darrin Harrison Jr., 34, of Port Carbon, was headed north in a 2019 Jeep Wrangler when he crossed over into a Mazda 6’s lane.

The Mazda was driven by Roberta Mazack, 54, of Shenandoah.

Harrison’s Jeep crossed back into his lane, left the highway, hit a stop sign, a mailbox, a fence, and the Deer Lake Pub and Restaurant before coming to a stop.

Both vehicles were disabled and no injuries were reported.

Harrison was cited for the crash.
