NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies in our region.
Theft
MANTZVILLE – State troopers are investigating the theft of a political banner in West Penn Township.
Troopers from the Frackville barracks responded to a home on Mantz Hill Lane on Oct. 14 for a reported theft.
There, someone had stolen a Harris/Walz banner from the victim’s fence.
Anyone with information should call troopers.
Vehicle Accident
GILBERTON – A Port Carbon man was taken to a local hospital after state troopers say he rolled a tri-axle here.
The crash happened around 6:30am on Oct. 24 on Gilberton Road near Shaft Street in the borough.
According to the State Police at Frackville, Vincent Madonna, 55, of Port Carbon, was headed east on Gilberton Road in a 1999 Mack truck when he tried to make a sharp left turn in the roadway, losing control and striking a utility pole.
The truck then rolled onto its side.
Madonna was taken to a Pottsville hospital and will be cited for the crash, troopers said.
DUI Crash
NUREMBERG – A Shenandoah man is facing DUI charges after a fiery crash near here in October.
According to the State Police at Frackville, the crash happened around 11:30am on Oct. 17 on Mountain Road near Millers Road in North Union Township.
Troopers said Mark E. Hysock, 53, of Shenandoah, was headed north in a 2020 Jeep Cherokee, left the road, and struck a utility pole.
The SUV caught fire and burned.
Hysock was not injured and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 27 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
