Police investigate Altamont shooting; Shenandoah man wanted

ALTAMONT – A Shenandoah man is wanted after a shooting in the Altamont section of West Mahanoy Township on Sunday afternoon.
Shortly before 3:00pm, police responded to the Motel 6 at 701 Altamont Boulevard for reports of a gunshot victim.
Officers arrived to find a male gunshot victim in room 49, where he had been staying with his girlfriend.
Police say the father of the girlfriend, Donald Jenkins, 40, of Shenandoah, entered the room, engaged in an argument, and shot the victim in the upper left leg.
Following the shooting, Jenkins fled the scene via vehicle.
The victim was taken to Geisinger Medical Center – Danville, in Montour County, for treatment, and an arrest warrant was issued for Jenkins.
Jenkins is wanted on charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Homicide, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Possessing Instruments of Crime, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and is believed to be in the Shenandoah area, with a reported residence on North White Street.
