Police converge on Girardville street; at least one taken to hospital

GIRARDVILLE – At least one person was taken to the hospital after an incident in Girardville.

Details are few, but law enforcement officers from across northern Schuylkill County converged on the 100 block of North Line Street in the borough around midnight.

At least one person was taken by ambulance, initially to the Girardville Little League field where an air medical helicopter was supposed to respond. The helicopter declined the flight due to weather and the victim was taken by ground to an area hospital. A Sentinel reporter observed clear, starry skies in Girardville at the time.

Two ambulances were seen leaving Girardville towards Ashland with a police cruiser in tow.

Police tape blocked Line Street between ‘A’ Street and Oak Street as officers investigated.

State troopers from the Frackville barracks were seen interviewing multiple people at the scene.

Assisting troopers were officers from Shenandoah, Frackville, Mahanoy City, and West Mahanoy Township, among others.
