Police: Bickering brothers fight over woman leads to assault, trespassing charges

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – A Harrisburg man is in Schuylkill County Prison, after police say he assaulted his brother, was kicked out of a Heights home, returned after his arraignment, and was arrested again.

Ethan Kennedy, 39, of Harrisburg, is facing misdemeanor simple assault, summary harassment, and felony criminal trespass charges filed in two separate complaints earlier this week.

Trooper Caleb Oestrike, of the State Police at Frackville, filed the assault and harassment charges.

In his complaint, Oestrike said he an Trooper Michael Owens were called to a home in the 200 block of Virginia Avenue in Shenandoah heights around 3pm Wednesday for a dispute.

There, troopers were told by Ethan Kennedy’s brother, Keenan, that the two had gotten into a fight after their mother was taken to the hospital after a medical emergency.

The fight, troopers wrote, was over a woman. Keenan told troopers that Ethan accused him of sleeping with the woman and took Keenan’s phone and began looking through his messages.

Keenan demanded the phone back, Ethan refused and instead punched Keenan in the face several times, troopers alleged.

When asked about the incident, Ethan told troopers that his brother “was having sexual relations with his ‘girl'” and denied striking him.

Both brothers had apparent injuries.

Ethan Kennedy was taken into custody and arraigned on assault and harassment charges. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Around 10pm that day, West Mahanoy Township Police were called to the Virginia Avenue home.

Patrolman Theodore Buriak, Jr., filed a felony criminal trespass charge against Ethan, who was allegedly told not to return to the home after his arraignment.

He was taken into custody following a brief argument and charged with defiant criminal trespass.

Kennedy was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on that charge, unable to post $30,000 bail.

Preliminary hearings are set for June 20 and June 27.
