Two dead, one injured in triple shooting on West Centre

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Investigators from Shenandoah Police and the Pennsylvania State Police gather outside 307 West Centre Street on July 3, 2025.

SHENANDOAH – Two men are dead and a woman is in critical condition after a triple shooting on West Centre Street overnight.

State and local police have been at the scene in the 300 block of West Centre since early Thursday morning and remained on scene through 11am.

Trooper Ethan Brownback, Public Information Officer for Troop L of the State Police, was on scene and told the Sentinel Borough Police were initially called to 307 West Centre Street around 1am.

“Shenandoah PD received a phone call [around 1am] from a female relating that she got a text message stating that ‘Everyone inside of 307 West Centre Street, Shenandoah is dead,” Brownback said.

Borough Police, with the assistance of West Mahanoy Township police, Frackville, and Mahanoy Township police, made entry into the home.

“Once inside, a younger juvenile male related ‘I need help’ and ‘Dad shot mom and granddad,” Brownback said.

An older man was found dead on a couch on the first floor of the home, Brownback said.

As officers made that discovery, they heard a gunshot coming from upstairs. There, another man was found dead and a woman was in critical condition.

She was flown to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville where she remains in critical condition, Brownback said.

All victims had gunshot wounds, the trooper said.

The State Police Major Case Team was activated and the Forensic Services Unit, CARS unit, and Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office all responded to assist.

Brownback said the identities of the victims will be released when next of kin is notified. He emphasized the incident is isolated and there is no danger to the community.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call State Police at Frackville at 570-874-5300.

Investigators remained on scene past 11am. Centre Street was closed from West to Gilbert until just after 11am.

The closure altered bus schedules in town.

In an alert, the Schuylkill Transportation System (STS) said stops at Boyer’s Food Markets and the request stop at Gilbert Street would not be served until further notice due to the police activity.

“The bus will stop in front of the former Santander Bank on Main Street, at the corner of Main and Centre Street in Shenandoah,” STS said in the alert.
