RINGTOWN – Cressona completed a 4-0 sweep of the pool play portion of the District 24 Little League tournament’s 10-12 division, defeating Upper Schuylkill in five innings.
Both teams entered with zeroes in their records — Cressona standing undefeated at 3-0 and Upper Schuylkill standing winless at 0-2 in Pool 2.
The game began as a defensive dogfight, with neither team gaining an early advantage.

By the third inning, the two teams were tied at 1 apiece.
Cressona, though, would run away late, triggering the mercy rule in the fifth and earning an 11-1 victory and the top spot in Pool 2, sweeping pool play.
Upper Schuylkill will travel to Minersville on Tuesday, June 29, to complete their pool play slate.
