ARISTES – Autumn leaf-peepers and more had the rare opportunity Sunday to drive through the scenic Brush Valley on a road normally closed to motor vehicles.
The Weiser State Forest opened the Roaring Creek Trail, the main road through the Roaring Creek tract, to cars for their annual drive-through, from Route 42 near Aristes to Route 54 near Natalie.
Normally a popular spot for walking and biking, dozens-upon-dozens of passenger cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks rode through the forest, taking in the fall foliage in the woodlands of Columbia and Northumberland counties.
Picnic areas line the trail, where some stopped to enjoy the day, while others walked along the shores of the Brush Valley and McWilliams reservoirs.
