McADOO – Downpours and thunderstorms rolling through northern Schuylkill County broke just in time for Friday’s McAdoo Fire Co. fire truck parade, part of their block party celebration this weekend.
Fire companies from Schuylkill, Luzerne, and Carbon Counties all came out for the parade.
It made its way through the McAdoo and Kelayres areas.
Afterward, firefighters stopped by the block party at the Hancock Street firehouse where awards were handed out for the best appearing fire apparatus in certain categories, as well as the Chief Bob Leshko Memorial Award, in memory of current Chief Robert Leshko’s father, for the best appearing overall department.
At the block party, typical favorites were served up, including kielbasi, pierogies, chicken fingers, and more. Empanadas were also on the menu, as were potato pancakes, or as they’d be ordered at a Shenandoah bazaar, bleenies.
