SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – Paint The Plow is returning to east-central Pennsylvania.

PennDOT is inviting high school students across their District 5 area, which includes Schuylkill County, to participate.

The program, PennDOT says, challenges kids to paint an original mural on a PennDOT snowplow blade while incorporating a statewide safety theme. It promotes winter driving safety and fosters appreciation for school art programs and student creativity.

This year’s theme is “Use your reason when it’s freezin'” and was chosen to remind motorists to use caution while driving in the winter months and always practice safe driving behaviors.

The program first started in 2015 and was conducted in Schuylkill County in 2018.

Public and private schools are welcome to participate and must have school officials complete and return an application to Sean Brown, regional coordinator.

Additional information on the program, including the guidelines for participation and photos of past plows, can be found online at www.penndot.pa.gov/PaintthePlow
