One taken to hospital after Centralia crash

CENTRALIA, Columbia County – One person was taken to a local hospital after a crash here early Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 1:30am in the 600 block of Locust Avenue, just north of North Street.
State Police at the scene said a Toyota Camry was headed southbound on Route 42, Locust Avenue, towards Centralia when the driver said a deer jumped into the roadway.

The vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree and other roadside objects before coming to a rest in a roadside embankment.
Troopers said the driver was taken by Washington Fire Co. Ambulance to Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Troopers added that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Centralia Fire Co., Aristes Fire Co., and Locust Township Police Department responded to the scene as well.
