One taken into custody after Frackville crash

FRACKVILLE – One person was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI after a crash in this borough Saturday night.

The crash happened on Oak Street just east of Broad Mountain Avenue around 9:30pm.

Frackville Police at the scene told the Sentinel a Chevy Cruze, driven by Eva Marie Jones, 37, of Mahanoy City, was headed eastbound. The sedan swerved and struck a parked Toyota Tundra outside Roman’s Lounge.

The Cruze came to a final rest in the westbound lane against a utility pole. Airbags were deployed, and the vehicle suffered severe, disabling damage.

Police said Jones was the only occupant in the vehicle, and no one was injured in the crash.

Jones was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence, police said, following field sobriety testing.

Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah, towed the vehicle from the scene.

Frackville’s Goodwill Hose Co. responded to the scene, shutting down the roadway and clearing debris and fluids. Also responding was Shenandoah Ambulance.
