One rescued from Gold Star crash

SHENANDOAH – One person was rescued from a single vehicle crash at the south end of town today.

Borough firefighters were called around 11:30am to the area of Gold Star Beverage on the Gold Star Highway for a the crash.

At the scene, first responders found a Jeep at around 75 feet down an embankment on the southwest side of the Gold Star Bridge.

One person was injured and had to be rescued, as firefighters from Shenandoah’s Phoenix, Rescue Hook and Ladder, and Columbia fire companies used a stokes basket and rope rescue techniques to bring the driver up the embankment.

The driver was treated and taken to a local hospital by Shenandoah Ambulance.

The Jeep was retrieved and towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing.

Shenandoah Police and the State Police at Frackville also responded to the scene.
