One displaced, no injuries in Nuremberg house fire
NUREMBERG – A home is destroyed and its lone occupant displaced after a multi-alarm house fire in this North Union Township village Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to 695 Main Street just after 11am for a reported fire.
Nuremberg-Weston Fire Chief Joseph Lescowitch said the home was “well-involved” when firefighters arrived and a second alarm was struck.
He said crews attempted an interior attack, but quickly deteriorating conditions in the structure prompted a defensive attack.
Lescowitch said there are no hydrants in the area and a tanker task force was requested. Two mobile ponds were set up outside the home to supply water for the firefight.
No one was injured, the chief said, and one person lived in the home full-time, and that resident has shared custody of a child.
A State Police fire marshal was on scene to investigate a cause.
Assisting Nuremberg-Weston firefighters were crews from across northern Schuylkill County, and southern Columbia and Luzerne counties, including Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Ringtown, Sheppton-Oneida, McAdoo, Aristes, Beaver Township, Hazle Township, Sugarloaf Township, Foster Township (Luzerne), Shenandoah Heights, and more.
