Oil burner malfunction draws fire response to east end

SHENANDOAH – Another day, another oil burner malfunction draws firefighters to an area home.

Today, around 4:30pm, Shenandoah firefighters were called to a home in the 200 block of East Centre Street for reports of smoke in a structure.

Smoke was reported in at least two row homes at the corner of Grant and Centre.

Within a few minutes Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder and Polish American fire companies were on the scene, and determined the cause of the smoke to be an oil burner malfunction.

Firefighters from the Hookies, PA, and Columbia remained on scene for about half an hour ventilating the structures.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on Centre for the duration of the incident.
