Ohio man facing homicide charges for Primrose fatal crash
PRIMROSE – A Youngstown, Ohio man is in Schuylkill County Prison on homicide charges for his role in Friday’s fatal crash here.
Rodney Rivers, 46, of Youngstown, is accused of killing 65-year-old Elizabeth Ryan, of Pottsville, and injuring her two juvenile passengers.
Troopers said the crash happened around 7:30pm on Route 901 at the south end of Primrose, a village in Cass Township.
Rivers, troopers said, was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles as they approached a corner. Ryan was struck head-on.
Rivers was not injured, while Ryan was killed and two children, ages 8 and 5, were injured.
Homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault charges were filed against Rivers, who was arraigned and locked up on $500,000 cash bail.
