NS students on trip to Washington involved in bus crash

EMMITSBURG, Maryland – North Schuylkill High School students on a trip to Washington, DC are on their way back to Pennsylvania after one of their buses was involved in a crash in Maryland.
According to Frederick County Fire and Rescue, a Catawese coach bus was involved in a crash around 9:40am at Route 15 and Creamery Road near Emmitsburg this morning.
Fire officials say the bus was occupied by 52 individuals: 47 students, 4 chaperones, and the driver.
The driver and two students were evaluated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
Knute Brayford, Supervisor of Special Education, confirmed one of three buses carrying North Schuylkill students bound for Washington, DC was involved in a “minor accident,” and that students are on their way home as of 12:30pm.
“We’re happy everyone is safe now, and happy with the response from the local first responders in Maryland,” said Brayford.
Brayford could not provide information regarding the two students reportedly evaluated.
