North Schuylkill prepares to host two marching band competitions

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – If you like marching bands, Fountain Springs is the place to be the next two weekends as some of the best high school bands in eastern Pennsylvania are set to perform.

North Schuylkill is hosting two Tournament of Bands competitions this year. This Saturday, Oct. 12 is their home competition and 15 bands are coming to perform.

Those bands include all three Sentinel area schools — Shenandoah, Mahanoy, and, of course, North Schuylkill — plus Hazleton, Tri-Valley, and Tamaqua locally.

Mifflin County, Lake Lehman, Wyoming Area, and Notre Dame Green Pond are all travelling a distance to perform.

Gates open at 3:30pm and the shows start at 4:30pm Tickets at the gate are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.

Then, next Saturday, North Schuylkill hosts the Tournament of Bands Chapters 2 and 4 championships.

Ten bands are performing there from across eastern Pennsylvania, including Mahanoy Area, North Schuylkill, Hazleton, Williams Valley, Southern Tioga, and more.

Gates open at 5pm and the event starts at 6pm. Tickets are $10.

The competitions are part of the Tournament of Bands circuit, one of the two main marching competition circuits in Pennsylvania.
