North Schuylkill graduate awarded Rhoades scholarship

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – Announced today by Marybeth Matz, Schuylkill Area Community Foundation’s Scholarships and Awards Administrator, were the 2018 recipients of the James J. and Mary Edith Rhoades Foundation Scholarship, and among them is a recent North Schuylkill graduate.
Scott Grigas, a recent graduate of North Schuylkill High School, attending Muhlenberg College, Lehigh County, in the fall to major in Computer Science, was one of three recipients of the $2,000 scholarship, intended to “defray the costs towards their higher education and pursue their dreams,” according to a media release, and “are awarded annually to qualified Schuylkill County high school seniors planning to further their education.”
“Students must exhibit a commitment to education, citizenship, and community,” the release read.
The other two recipients were Taylor Kerstetter, Blue Mountain, attending the University of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, in the fall, majoring in nursing; and Noah Robertson, Pottsville Area, attending Penn State – University Park, Centre County, majoring in Immunology and Infectious Disease.
