North Carolina man cited for Delano Township rig wreck
DELANO – A North Carolina man will be cited after a tractor trailer crash closed Interstate 81 South for hours Tuesday night.
State Police at Frackville said Moises Membreno Umana, 34, of Thomasville, was headed south on Interstate 81 in the right lane in a 2018 Kenworth T800.
Troopers said he lost control of the truck near milepost 135.9, south of the McAdoo exit, crossed the left lane and struck a cement jersey barrier around 9:30pm.
The truck then jackknifed and the entire load on the trailer became scattered along the left shoulder of the highway, troopers said.
Membreno Umana was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt, troopers said. He will be cited for the crash.
The truck was towed from the scene by D&B Towing.
Firefighters from McAdoo, Delano, and Hometown responded and the highway was closed into the overnight hours.
