North Carolina man charged with DUI, drug, firearm charges in Mahanoy City

MAHANOY CITY – A North Carolina man is facing drug, firearms, and DUI charges after an incident Saturday night in the borough.
According to borough police, around 8:30pm, 32-year-old Steven Osborne, of Hubert, North Carolina, was taken into custody by Patrolman Rachael Lenar near East Mahanoy and South 1st Streets after being found behind the wheel of a vehicle, under the influence.
Osborne was also in posession of several loaded weapons, body armor, heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
“The arrest of this defendant and the seizure of his guns and drugs is another example of the Mahanoy City Police Department’s tireless 24/7 commitment to making a safer community,” said Chief Ken Zipovsky.
Osborne faces a total of eight charges, including DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and firearms not to be carried without a license, among others.
Osborne was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ferrier, and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $15,000.00 cash bail.
