MOUNT CARMEL – Firefighters from multiple counties responded to a reported fire at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community early Saturday morning.
Crews were called to the center on Locust Gap Highway in Mount Carmel Township, just outside the borough, around 12:50am for a reported fire.
Firefighters made quick work of the fire, containing it to one room.
No injuries were reported.
Numerous medical units were called and a second alarm was struck in case residents had to be moved.
No residents are displaced.
Responding were firefighters from Strong, Atlas, Natalie, Kulpmont, Mount Carmel, Wilburton, and Shamokin, among others. Units from Ashland and Englewood were cancelled.
The incident was the second fire this year at the center. A fire in January sent staff members, residents, and first responders to the hospital. Displaced residents were transferred to Shenandoah at that time.
