No injuries in Brandonville crash; one driver flees

BRANDONVILLE – No one was injured after two pickup trucks collided in this East Union Township village, closing Route 924 for about an hour Wednesday evening.

The crash happened just before 8:30pm, when a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 collided with a Ford F150 at Main Boulevard (Route 924) and Park Avenue in the village.

Sheppton-Oneida fire officials said the Chevrolet entered Route 924 from Park Avenue as the Ford F150 was travelling south on the highway.

The Chevy struck the Ford in the intersection, pushing it into a utility pole on the roadside.

The two occupants of the Ford were uninjured, and the driver of the Chevy fled the scene.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing of Shenandoah.

Fire crews remained on scene until about 9:30pm, cleaning up fluids in the roadway and directing traffic.

Shenandoah Heights firefighters assisted with traffic control.

EMS crews from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and Lehigh Valley Health Network responded to the scene as well, as did the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville.

Prior to the arrival of emergency services, neighbors sprang into action to help at the scene, including directing traffic off of Main Boulevard.
