New North Schuylkill softball coach named
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – The North Schuylkill Lady Spartans softball squad has a new head coach.
Jack Flynn was tapped to lead the program earlier this week.
He succeeds longtime head coach Dominick Grasso, whose Spartans have appeared in the District XI tournament every year a tournament was held under his tenure and made a deep run in the state tournament in 2018.
Flynn has been an assistant under Grasso since 2020.
Grasso took over the Spartans program in 2008 after four years coaching the former Cardinal Brennan team.
The Lady Spartans won the Schuylkill League Championship in 2021, were the District XI 3A Runner Up, and advanced to the PIAA 3A Quarterfinals, before losing a hard fought 7-6 battle to eventual state runner-up, Mid Valley. The team finished the season with a 20-7 overall record that season.
Over his 21 year coaching career, Grasso’s overall record was 266-180 (.596 winning percentage).
