Mt. Carmel nursing home fire ruled accidental, electrical; PSP
MOUNT CARMEL – The cause of a nursing home fire that displaced numerous residents earlier this month has been determined.
State Police at Stonington said Thursday their investigation into the Jan. 4 fire at the Mount Carmel Nursing Center on Locust Gap Highway concluded.
Troopers said the fire was ruled accidental, electrical in nature.
Three staff members, 12 residents, and five first responders were all taken to local hospitals for evaluation for the fire.
The fire was contained to the personal care side of the facility.
Many residents were transferred to the Shenandoah Manor.
