Mt. Carmel firefighters tackle brush fire

MOUNT CARMEL, Northumberland County – Mount Carmel firefighters made quick work of a brush fire beneath the Route 61 viaduct earlier today.
The call came in around 7:00pm as smoke filled the air near Route 61.
Firefighters arrived to find a brush fire beneath Beech Street along the Shamokin Creek embankment.

Handlines were stretched from Clover’s Engine 3 and Anthracite’s Engine 2 to knock down the fire.
Firefighters made quick work of the fire and were clear in short order.
