Mount Carmel man among two killed in Luzerne crash

DORRANCE TOWNSHIP, Luzerne County – A Mount Carmel man was one of two persons killed in a vehicle crash north of Hazleton yesterday afternoon.
State Police at Hazleton said the crash happened just after 4:00pm on South Mountain Boulevard, Route 309, south of Terrace Avenue in Dorrance Township, between Drums and Mountain Top.
Paul Ventilli, 38, of Mount Carmel was headed north on South Mountain Boulevard in a 2009 Ford Focus, troopers said, when his vehicle crossed the double yellow and struck a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, headed southbound and driven by Daniel Lllewellyn, 28, of Drums.
Ventilli’s Ford was stopped in the southbound lane while Llewellyn’s Hyundai was on the shoulder as troopers arrived. Troopers said Ventilli was not wearing his seatbelt.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased by Luzerne County Deputy Coroner Joseph Jacobs.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Dorrance Township Fire, Wright Township Fire, Wright Township Police, and Rice Township Police.
Both vehicles were towed by Ayers Towing.
