SHENANDOAH – Diakon Community Services, operator of the Schuylkill County Senior Community Centers, will host a volunteer open house in Shenandoah on March 20.
The event, set for 11am at the Shenandoah Senior Community Center in the Damato Post building, 116 North Main Street, will highlight the continuing need for volunteers for the program, as part of the national March for Meals initiative.
In Schuylkill County, meals are delivered as part of the Meals on Wheels program Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 10am and 1pm, with most routes taking an hour or less, Diakon said in a media release.
“We hope people will call or attend the open houses. Meals on Wheels is a wonderful way to have an impact on the community and to help your neighbors,” says Susan Long of Diakon Community Services.
People interesting in volunteering should attend one of the open houses or call 1-800-621-MEAL (or 6325).
