Man stabbed after argument over money, PSP says; assailant stabs self
HELFENSTEIN – Two men are at a Danville hospital and one is facing attempted homicide charges after a stabbing in Northumberland County.
According to State Police at Stonington, the incident happened around 3:30am Sept. 26 at a home on Upper Road in East Cameron Township.
Troopers said Brian Koinski, 32, and Joshua Cohoon, 27, argued over money and, around 3am, Cohoon entered Koinski’s bedroom and stabbed him with a knife.
Cohoon fled to another bedroom and received assistance from a witness who was able to detain Cohoon as he attempted to stab Koinski again.
After Koinski fled, troopers said Cohoon stabbed himself.
Troopers said Cohoon has multiple mental health disorders and had recently stopped taking his medication.
Both men are at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and expected to recover.
Charges were filed Monday against Cohoon for attempted homicide, felony aggravated assault, among other charges.
