Mahanoy Township provides update on Vulcan warehouses, seeks bids for 2024 road program
MAHANOY CITY – Mahanoy Township Supervisors voted Thursday to seek bids for a project to replace four storm drains and improve roads in the Morea-New Boston area, and provided an update on the ongoing warehouse development near Vulcan.
Supervisors Chairman Ted Styka said the township intends to replace four storm drains as part of the estimated $129,000 road project. Once done, they will improve the roads around them.
He did not have a specific location, but say they would be between Morea and New Boston.
Supervisors also voted to approve a subdivision plan for the industrial park near Morea.
Michael Begis, of Arro Engineering, said Northpoint Development intends to split the property in three — two parcels for the two warehouses and one for the sewer plant — and asked supervisors to approve necessary waivers as well, which they did.
Supervisors also approved the final land development plan for the property, which was drafted to meet as-built conditions, Begis said.
In other business, Supervisor Jim Stevens provided an update on the new garage at the township complex on West Centre Street. He said the remainder of the work necessary is electrical.
