Mahanoy preschooler transported after Rush Twp. crash
STILL CREEK – A five-year-old Mahanoy City girl was taken to a Coaldale hospital after a crash in this Rush Township village Friday evening.
The crash happened around 6:30pm on Route 309 near Fairview Street, according to State Police at Frackville.
Troopers said Tiffany Blashock, 34, of Mahanoy City, was headed south on Route 309 in a 2020 Subaru when the traffic light at Fairview Street turned yellow.
A 1995 Honda ahead of Blashock applied its brakes and was rear-ended by Blashock’s vehicle. The driver of the Honda was not identified.
Troopers said Blashock’s Subaru sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.
A five-year-old girl was in the backseat and was taken to St. Luke’s Miners Medical Center for evaluation.
No other injuries were reported.
Three citations were issued related to the crash, according to online court records. Blashock was cited for speeding, while Thomas Aron Jones, 25, of Birdsboro — presumably the driver of the Honda — was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to carry his license.
