Mahanoy musician receives county band scholarship

TAMAQUA – A standout Mahanoy Area musician received the annual Schuylkill County Band Scholarship at the recent Schuylkill County Band Festival.
At Saturday’s concert at Tamaqua Area High School, Ben Bux was announced as the winner of the $500 scholarship.
He was chosen by the county directors “based on highly competitive recommendations provided by principals, music teachers, and other professional music references.”
Bux has also represented Mahanoy Area and the greater Mahanoy Valley at PMEA District 10 Band and will take part in Region V Band at Carlisle High School later this month.
