Mahanoy Council approves advertising for full time police chief

MAHANOY CITY – The Borough of Mahanoy City is seeking a full-time police chief, council approved Tuesday evening.
Council voted to advertise for a full-time police chief at Tuesday’s meeting.
Council voted 6-1 to advertise the position, with Council President Tom McCabe casting the dissenting vote.
Mahanoy City’s current police chief, Mark Wiekrykas, works on a part-time basis, and was hired in March of 2019.
Prior to Wiekrykas, Ken Zipovsky served as full-time chief before leaving for the same post in Rush Township.
