Mahanoy City man arrested for burglary, motorcycle theft

MAHANOY CITY – A Mahanoy City man is in Schuylkill County Prison after police say he entered a garage and stole a motorcycle on Easter Sunday.
According to Mahanoy City Police, a victim reported the incident Monday, stating a garage had been entered at 44 North Eighth Street, and a 1999 Kawasaki had been stolen. It was discovered the crime had occurred the day prior, Easter Sunday.
Around 2:00pm, Mahanoy City police, assisted by Mahanoy Township police, recovered the vehicle and took 21-year-old Dominic Streisel, West Spruce Street, into custody.
“The partnership between the Mahanoy City and Mahanoy Township Police Departments makes for a safer community,” said Mahanoy City Chief Ken Zipovsky.
Streisel was subsequently charged by Patrolman Kristin Maddon with felony burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.
Streisel was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. However, he was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on a probation violation.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in the near future
