Mahanoy Area holds homecoming parade
MAHANOY CITY – Mahanoy Area’s homecoming tradition couldn’t be stopped by the coronavirus pandemic.
Friday afternoon, the school’s homecoming court, riding in the beds of pickup trucks, or in muscle cars, paraded through the streets of the borough, joined by fire apparatus, the marching band, and cheerleaders.
The vast majority of participants were wearing masks for the parade.
This year’s parade was shorter than normal, turning at Main Street instead of farther east, as in prior years.
The school will crown a homecoming queen at tonight’s football bout between Mahanoy Area and Williams Valley.
