Luzerne County paramedic injured in scuffle; man charged
DRUMS – A homeless man is facing charges after police say he assaulted a paramedic at a convenience store in Luzerne County.
Alexander Krouse, 25, is in Luzerne County Prison on two counts of felony aggravated assault on a designated individual, misdemeanor simple assault, and resisting arrest.
According to Butler Township (Luzerne County) Police, first responders were called to the Fuel On Convenience Store on West Butler Drive around 6:30pm Sunday.
Krouse was found sitting in his car in the parking lot and officers said he showed signs of having an altered mental status, along with paranoid and erratic behavior.
A Valley Regional EMS paramedic treated Krouse when police say he forcefully grabbed a needle being used to administer medication. The paramedic’s arm was cut and a scuffle ensued as Krouse grabbed the paramedic’s arm.
The paramedic was treated at an area hospital and released.
Krous was arraigned Monday morning and committed to Luzerne County Prison on $50,000 bail.
