Luzerne County man uninjured in I-81 accident

RYAN TWP. – A Luzerne County man was uninjured after a single vehicle accident on Interstate 81 just before 6:00pm Wednesday.
According to the State Police at Frackville, Axel Diaz Tatis, 24, of Hazleton, was travelling southbound on Interstate 81 during a heavy rainstorm when he lost control of his 2005 Honda Civic.
Diaz Tatis was attempting to switch from the right to the left lane around mile marker 126.6, losing control and crossing the left shoulder, proceeding to strike a rocky roadside embankment.
The impact with the embankment tore the left front wheel and suspension off the vehicle, which spun 360 degrees, coming to a rest partially in the southbound passing lane.
Diaz Tatis was uninjured, and was seatbelted at the time. No airbag deployed.
Assisting PSP-Frackville at the scene were fire crews from Ryan Township and Altamont.
