Local students recognized as good citizens by Daughters of the American Revolution

FRIEDENSBURG – Some local students were among those recognized as Good Citizenship Awardees by the Mahantongo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Claire Kowalonek of North Schuylkill and Alexis Chilinskas of Mahanoy Area were in attendance at Sunday’s banquet. John Boctor of Shenandoah Valley was also recognized by could not attend the banquet.

Each student received a certificate and pin.

Each Schuylkill County school had the opportunity to designate one student from the senior class to receive the award. They submitted an application, transcript, and letters of reference.

The group also awarded a Good Citizenship Scholarship, worth $150. That was awarded to Anna Schaeffer of Schuylkill Haven.
